Speaking of licensing, we are often asked if the site is legal and above board (probably because it all seems too good to be true). The answer, you will be pleased to know, is yes indeedy! You can see indiemoviesonline.com listed on the Industry Trust website, a coalition of legal online distributors like Xbox, Apple, Blockbusters, the BBC and Sky.

Indiemoviesonline.com has a proper distribution license from the individual rights holders to show every film you see on the website. Indiemoviesonline.com is proud to be 100% legal and official.

Similarly, we won’t ask you to fill out bogus surveys, or sign up for a paid-for account to get faster access or anything of the kind. Nor will you ever have to break the law, as pirate and file sharing sites do.

Every film on indiemoviesonline.com is free to watch. We don’t charge at all. Nor do we require you to sign up (but if you do, we really appreciate it).

We are committed to finding and showing independent films from all over the world. We aim to support filmmakers and to make independent films available to the widest audience. This means we also have premieres of brand new independent films,, so keep an eye out for promos on the site, or register an account and we will email you.

In order to watch the films, you will need a broadband internet connection. Please see below for troubleshooting of potential problems.

Q. Is there a limit to the amount of free movies I can watch on Indie?
A. You can watch as many films, anytime, as many times as you want!

Q. How can this service be free?
A. We show advertising on the site, in front of the movies – and this generates revenue, which is paid to rights holders as a royalty.

Q. Can I watch the films on my TV?
A. Yes, it’s entirely possible. If you are using a newer flat screen TV, you can just connect your computer via a VGA or HDMI cable.

Q. How do I watch the latest [Insert name of current blockbuster showing at the cinema] on this site?
A. Well, we don’t have those movies – because the rights are not yet available for ad-supported (free) streaming.

Q. But I see them on lots of other sites…
A. Well, those sites are not licensed. Granted most internet users don’t care, well apart from the ones who get a massive fine, or get their computers infected or unwittingly become slaves to spam. What we can offer is to provide a safe and secure way to watch films online for free, and legally.  And when there are more sites like ours around, then the illegal ones won’t be needed.
