When it’s inappropriate to swear

You know that really awkward moment when you stub your toe and you just want to scream a swear word at the top of your lungs only to find your parents/boss/the vicar in the room? You end up saying things like “fffffffudge” or “sssssssshhhhhhhugar”.

It’s a similar thing when films with swearwords get broadcast on TV, “motherfucking” magically gets turned to “monkey-fighting” or “Monday to Friday”; “fucking cocksucker” becomes “fairy god mother”; the c-word becomes “sloppy”; “pussy” becomes “chicken” or “pineapple”; “fucked” becomes “plucked”; “motherfucker” becomes “Mr Falcon” or “little sucker”; “jerk off” becomes “cool off”. Sentences no longer make sense, Pulp Fiction’s Jules Winnfield (Samuel L Jackson) ends up going from: “My eyes are wide fucking open” to “my eyes are wide focused open”. Sometimes the voices don’t even match!

Check out the video below featuring Snakes on a Plane, The Usual Suspects, The Departed, Scarface, Die Hard 2, Pulp Fiction, Basic Instinct, There’s Something About Mary, Beverly Hills Cop, Casino, Wild Things and The Big Lebowski.
