Would David Slade watch Twilight?

“Drunk? No, not even drunk. Twilight on acid? No, not even on acid. Twilight at gunpoint? Just shoot me.”

So said the director who is slated to direct the third in the Twilight franchise. The original comment was made on his (now deleted) Twitter page and picked up in an interview, on Big Daddy Kev’s movie show on WJFK. You can hear his interview here and here. If he feels that strongly about the first movie, why did he agree to take on Eclipse? Was it because that seat on the money bandwagon looked so damned comfortable? He must realise after saying this stuff that he’s not going to get a great reception from the fans. This in turn must mean that, apart from paying lip service to the millions of Meyer fans though gushy press releases, the studio couldn’t care less what they think.

I wonder what Stephenie Meyer’s reaction to this revelation is - after all, she just released a crazily positive statement about David Slade being on board.
