All 'D's … well 4 out of 6: it’s free movie Driday!

Alert! Alert! It’s Friday and you haven’t had your dose of free movies yet! You’d better get over here quickly and get a full-fat gulp of diamond thievery, a city banker suffering a £100 million loss, the LARPy world of Darkon, Drew Barrymore with a split personality, a computer whiz who thinks love is pre-programmed and a school year seen through a teacher’s eyes. Plus our very first video round-up. Ohhh, ahhh, gulp.

If that intro doesn’t entice you enough, then please check out our first video round-up. You can hear our quite frankly terrified voices summing up each film, accompanied by exciting video footage. But can you guess who’s who? (Seeing as there’s only one guy on the editorial team, you’re a third of the way there already.)

First up is Wedlock, a 1991 sci-fi thriller. Rutger Hauer is Frank Warren, electronics expert placed in an experimental high-tech prison for diamond theft. Wearing an explosive collar and linked to another inmate, Frank must find his partner if he is ever to escape the facility. Wedlock is available for everyone in the UK.

Wedlock and Dealers stills.

Money! Greed! Sex! More money! Dealers follows city banker Danny Pascoe who must claw back a £100m loss, a task which is complicated by the arrival of a glamorous new American boss (Rebecca De Mornay). Dealers is also available to UK residents only.

Welcome to Darkon. This documentary gives a fascinating glimpse into the world of LARP (live action role play) and its extraordinary inhabitants who get together to decide the fate of their online territories by staging battles and intrigue – armed and in full costume, of course. Darkon is available in the UK and Australia.

Darkon and Doppelganger stills.

Doppelganger follows Holly Gooding (Drew Barrymore), the beautiful but disturbed young woman forced to flee to LA after being blamed for the mysterious death of her mother. Plagued by her murderous doppelganger, Holly turns to her reluctant roommate Patrick for help, but does he believe her? Those in UK, US, Canada and Australia can all enjoy this 1993 thriller.

Computer whizz Rand is the star of Dopamine, convinced human attraction is all a matter of biological pre-programming. That is until he meets Sarah, who puts his belief to the test. Dopamine is only available to those in the UK.

Dopamine and Chalk stills.

Last up (for this Friday anyway) is Chalk, an award-winning comic mockumentary that covers a school year from the teachers’ perspective. 50% of teachers quit within the first three years and Chalk sets out to show us why. The events are inspired by the classroom experience of director Mike Akel and screenwriter Chris Mass, who both worked as teachers. Again Chalk is only available in the UK and Australia.

That's it folks, enjoy!
