A teaser trailer for CBS Films forthcoming movie Beastly has arrived. Based on a novel with the same name by Alex Flinn, this is a modernisation of Beauty and the Beast, set in New York.
After watching the trailer you’ll likely be unimpressed, not only because it doesn’t give much away but because, yes that was Vanessa Hudgens and yes, it does look like the beast's got liquid metal veins, or is he just turning into Venom? In other words we have no idea what that has to do with Beauty and the Beast.
Alex Flinn’s version has Kyle Kingsbury play a practical joke on Kendra, the witch in disguise, causing her to curse him. The film version takes things down a few notches: not only is Kendra a jealous ex-girlfriend but she is played by Mary-Kate Olsen, eesh. The curse turns our rich, handsome and popular Kyle into a 'beast' but - don't panic - it can be broken if he finds love within two years, looking all icky and gross. But wait, the book does have something. Whether or not this carries to screen is another matter.
Directed and adapted to screen by Daniel Barnz, Beastly also stars Neil Patrick Harris, Alex Pettyfer and is set to hit cinemas July 2010 in the US and October 2010 in the UK. I’m sure you can’t wait.

he doesn't look that much more beastly than the guy below. I bet our Kyle could find love at the Tattoo and Piercings convention held on brick lane every year. People would love his scarification and metallic body-mods.
