A bunch of first looks coming your way today, a behind the scenes peek at Rooney Mara in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, Rihanna and Taylor Kitsch filming Battleship, Jake Gyllenhaal in Source Code and some concept art for Pixar’s Newt.

Thanks to Rooney Mara Network we have a first look at Rooney Mara as Lisbeth Salander in David Fincher’s adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, on location in Sweden. As fans of the book know Lisbeth loves her motorbike so make sure you check out Rooney Mara on her bike in full protective gear.

Lisbeth Salander is the pierced and tattooed punk prodigy to Mikael Blomkvist, a crusading journalist who is brought in to investigate the disappearance of Hariet Vanger, a scion of one of Sweden’s wealthiest families by Vangaer’s aged uncle who, 40 years down the line, still seeks the truth.

Also starring in this remake is Daniel Craig as Mikael Blomkvist, Stella Skarsgård as Martin Vanger and Robin Wright as Erika Berger. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is due out December 21, 2011 in the US.

While the news that singer, Rihanna would be making her acting debut in Peter Berg’s Battleship wasn’t flavour of the month, pictures of the star in costume have been. We admit to ignoring the first set of behind the scenes snaps, but new images have gone online (via JustJared), this time including Taylor Kitsch. Kitsch plays Alex Hopper, a “wildly Spirited” naval commander who is described as “a great seaman but lousy politician.”

Battleship is based on the Hasbro board game (with added aliens) and also stars Alexander Skarsgård (as Kitsch’s brother) and Brooklyn Decker. The film was originally set for a 2011 release but is now due out in US May 18, 2012.

A scan of the first image from Duncan Jones’ Source Code has gone online. Jake Gyllenhaal is a soldier who signs up for an experimental government programme that places his consciousness into a body of a civilian who experiences a train bombing. The soldier must relive this moment until he finds out who is responsible and how to prevent the next terrorist attack. The first image we see Gyllenhaal pointing a gun and clutching a mobile phone, we’re guessing investigations are afoot?

Source Code also stars Vera Farmiga, Michelle Monaghan, Jeffrey Wright, Russell Peters and Michael Arden, and is due to hit US cinemas March 11, 2011.

Finally we have concept art for Pixar’s Newt, a project that the studio cancelled earlier this year. The animation was set to tell the tale of the last male and female blue-footed newts who were pushed together by scientists with the hopes of saving the species.

Disney/Pixar posted the artwork with this message on their Facebook page: “As most of you already know, Newt is no longer in development at Pixar. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t share some of the Pixar artists’ amazing artwork with our Facebook fans!”
