How to get the most from movies on the site

Question mark

Hello movie lovers! First we’d like to say thanks for taking the time to check out all our great movies. We’re constantly working to make the site a better place and get more movies out to more people. In the meantime, please check out these tips to make the most of your movie watching on IndieMoviesOnline.

First off, a quick note: you do not have to register or confirm your age to watch films on the site. Our movies are streamed and not downloadable. By starting the stream, you automatically confirm you are old enough to watch the film.

Please check your surroundings. Where are you? No, I don’t mean your living room or bedroom. What country are you in? If it’s not the UK, the USA, Canada or Australia then we’re afraid that right now our movies aren’t available for you to watch. If you are in one of the listed countries, read on! (Those of you outside these countries please check back soon, as we’re working on expanding our regions. In the meantime, you can read our news and reviews. It’s not the same, we know. But it’s a start.)

Just because you’re in one of the four territories listed above doesn’t mean you can watch all the films on the site. Due to licensing issues we can only offer certain films to view in certain places. If you see the message: “Not available in your territory”, it’s not an error message. It really means that the film is not available where you are – as we’re a legal site, we have to jump through all kinds of hoops the illegal sites don’t to bring you free content.

If you’re in one of the countries where we can show free films and you’re still having problems, first check your Flash player. You’ll need at least Flash 9. If you don’t have this or a newer player, it’s time to upgrade! You can download it here. Once you have downloaded a new player, you may need to refresh or re-open your browser to see the changes.

Next step is to check your broadband connection. IndieMoviesOnline shows both high and lower-quality videos, depending on your broadband speed. You will need at least a 0.5 mbps broadband download speed to watch a video smoothly. You can test your broadband speed here.

Other things to check include: ad-blockers, firewalls and anti-virus. Any of these could stop the video streams playing. If you have changed a setting (or we have), sometimes simply clearing the cache can solve a problem.

Remember, you can watch movies full screen using the button on the video player. So, sit back, relax, enjoy – and maybe write a review if you feel strongly about a film you’ve just watched. We really want your feedback!
