It’s new movie time and we’ve posted three films for you today. Want to peek behind the scenes of modern industrial food production? Or find what it’s like to be a ladyboy in the Philippines? Or see Bob Geldof, playing himself, playing funny? Find out more after the jump.
All films this week are for our UK audience only. Apologies to our international visitors – it’s just about which territories we can acquire the rights for. Sigh. It’s not easy being legal and above-board.
On to the movies. This week’s flicks are all very good and all recommended by the Indie Movies team.
First up is a very funny short: I Am Bob. It features one Mr Bob Geldof, playing a satirized version of erm … Mr Bob Geldof. When Sir Bob’s limo leaves him stranded en route to a charity gig without money or a phone, he’s forced to take part in a lookalikes talent show – only to find another Bob Geldof in the lineup.
Next is the admittedly scary but absolutely compelling documentary We Feed The World. This film exposes the shocking truths behind industrial food production and food wastage, focusing on fishing, livestock and crop farming. It’s a must-see for anyone interested in the true cost of the food on their plate.
Finally, we have The Amazing Truth About Queen Raquela. It’s a hyper-real, documentary-style drama about Raquela, a ladyboy living in the Philippines, as she negotiates the seedy fringes of the adult entertainment industry and becomes an online porn star, and dreams of visiting Paris and falling in love.
And that's all from us. Have a great weekend, people!
