Now, we know – and you know – that Diary of the Dead was a grim disappointment and that advance buzz for Survival of the Dead is not hopeful. But a trailer (a very early trailer, complete with timecode, but minus credits) is out and we think you may enjoy the few grisly zombie killings shown within.
The plot follows the band of soldiers we met briefly in Diary..., who are now looking for sanctuary. They hear about a place called Plum Island and make their way there, only to find themselves caught up in a battle between two families, one of whom is insisting on their right to keep their dead relatives nearby.
It's a sales trailer, hence its lack of finish. Here it is:
What do you think? Crowbar through eye! Head shotgunned off so that a flap of skull and skin falls perfectly onto the exposed throat! Fire extinguisher in the mouth, making the eyeballs explode from the skull! It looks as though Mr Romero is having fun with his zombies again (aside from its other flaws, Diary... was quite joyless) which could be a good sign.
Oh, and there are some ropey sounding Irish-American accents which we’ll overlook. Survival of the Dead should be released in the US this month; no UK release date has yet been announced.

I'm not too sure of this one... Besides having a few nice moments in there, it doesn't look that great. It has the feel of a straight to DVD bargain bin late night garage drunk purchase to it. Which is a shame.
Diary was a disappointment but like Star Wars: Episode 1, after you got over it and looked at it again, it was a pretty decent flick. Nothing special, but decent.
I'm not getting my hopes up on this though, maybe I will be surprised, I mean Land of the Dead turned out to be far better than I thought it was going to be, even if its not perfect.
People are really harsh about Land ... but I liked it. Diary... was another matter but Land.. was all kinds of fun.
