We have everything you need to dazzle your eyes here at IndieMovies this afternoon, starting with a static poster for Monsters, segueing to a motion poster for Saw 3D and winding up with a trailer for Skyline. Smooth, huh?
A new poster has been released for Gareth Edwards' sci-fi thriller, Monsters. The film is set in a universe where alien life has landed and half of Mexico is quarantined as an infected zone, and the American and Mexican military forces struggle to contain the creatures. The story begins with a US journalist agreeing to escort a shaken American tourist through the infected zone in Mexico to the safety of the US border.
The duo, Samantha Wynden (Whitney Able) and Andrew Kaulder (Scoot McNairy) are featured in the new poster today looking rather bedraggled, with gas masks in tow as they enter an infected area that looks rather like a war zone. Helicopters can be seen in the murky, smoky sky.
As the poster is for the US, it’s tagged with the US release date: October 29. UK viewers will have to wait until November 12 but according to the film’s website it comes to Magnolia Pictures on demand first, from September 24.

Moving on to the day’s in-betweeny eye candy we have a motion poster for Saw 3D. Though you can't see it in all its mobile wonder right here, just click the image below and you'll be transported to another page where the black fist-festooned heart does a little dance. Well ok, it just turns a bit but it’s still quite compelling. Ready? Go!
Oh, ahh, wasn't it great? Well, maybe not. Why does it say “heart-pounding 3D” and then just have the heart rotate? Surely pulsing or, well, pounding would be a tad more effective? Still, we’ll say no more lest we wind up in a dungeon somewhere paying for our cheekiness.
Anyway, the next instalment of the Saw franchise will see a deadly battle raging over Jigsaw's brutal legacy. A group of survivors gather seeking the support of fellow survivor and self-help guru, Bobby Dagen. But his own dark secrets unleash a new wave of terror.
While it was widely believed that this would be the last of the Saw films (producer Oren Koules at one stage confirmed it), actress Betsy Russell believes otherwise: “Before we thought it was ending [with Saw VII], the writers came up with an unbelievable idea [for Saw VIII]. It's an amazing story that I would love to see.” Although at this point in time, Lionsgate is yet to confirm such beliefs.
Reprising their roles as serial killer John Kramer and guru Dagen are Tobin Bell and Sean Patrick Flanery respectively, with director of the previous Saw, Kevin Greutert, also returning. The seventh Saw has an October 29 US release set.
Our last pic of the day brings us back full circle back to those pesky aliens. It’s a trailer for alien invasion flick, Skyline. The plot outline is pretty standard (think Independence Day or any other alien invasion film but perhaps even dafter), Skyline sees a group of friends awoken in the dead of night after an evening partying. An eerie light is shining through their window and as they watch, they see people who’ve left their homes to investigate suddenly vanishing into the air as the light draws them up. They soon discover an otherworldly force is removing the entire human population from the face of the earth.
Produced and directed by the Strause brothers, who also created the visual effects with their company Hydraulx, Skyline stars Eric Balfour, Donald Faison, David Zayas, Brittany Daniels and Scottie Thompson. The film has a November 12 US release date and will be released on Netflix afterwards.
