If your idea of a good time is cowering on the sofa, peeping in appalled terror through the cracks in your fingers as you slowly fill your pants with the brown stuff, then have we got a give away for you. Up for grabs is a bundle comprising a poster for The Silent House plus a fistful of classic horror DVDs,
and we also have three DVD copies of Prowl to dish out as runners-up prizes too. IMPORTANT UPDATE!
Just like twinkle-toed new Liverpool idol Luis Suarez, horror movie The Silent House hails from Uruguay. The feature debut of director Gustavo Hernández, the film infiltrates UK cinemas from 8 April, and attention will likely focus on the fact that it is billed as having been shot in one continuous take of 78-minutes.
Whether that claim is strictly true or not seems open to question (some moments of pitch blackness would allow for a quick edit), but the film makes good use of this central conceit to ramp up the scares in a simple scenario which is derived from a true story. Staying in a strange house, teenager Laura, played by Florencia Colucci, is disturbed by a noise from upstairs. She sends he father to investigate, and thus commences a long night of terror, tension and creepy dolls.
We have a poster for The Silent House to give away, as well as a DVD bundle consisting of French shocker Martyrs, creepy kid saga Orphan, and Guillermo del Toro's vampiric debut, Cronos.
Three runners-up will each receive a copy of new horror Prowl on DVD.
To be in with a chance of winning any of these prizes, simply answer the following question...
Q: In which country is The Silent House set?
...and send your answer to firstname.lastname@example.org, with SILENT HOUSE in the subject line and your name and address included. The competition closes on 30 April 2011, and is only open to UK residents aged 18 and over.
Our Terry competition from last month has now closed, and the winners have been chosen. The lucky three are Elvis Wright from Ripley, Bruce De Smid from Tayport and Louise Rawlings from Riccall. Well done folks, and expect to receive your DVDs sometime soon.
The Silent House is out in the UK on 8 April. Prowl is out on DVD now.
UPDATE: Okay, so this is a bit of a great hairy balls up for which we can only apologise. We ARE running a competition to win copies of Prowl, but it is separate from the comp to win The Silent House poster and the DVD bundle.
So for those who wish to be in with a shot of winning The Silent House poster and the three-DVD bundle, please enter as advised above.
However for those wanting to get their mitts on a copy of Prowl (on Blu-Ray, rather than DVD), please proceed to that entirely separate, entirely exciting competition by clicking here.
