A trailer for The Sorcerer’s Apprentice has been released, revealing it is quite a lot more than just a magician’s apprentice who gets a spell wrong, flooding his master’s workshop. The trailer is a special effects extravaganza – we’re now actually very excited.

Dave Stutler is an average college student until a sorcerer named Balthazar Blake seeks him out. Dave is brought into a world he thought was impossible to become a force for good and a very important sorcerer. But in the meantime he must endure a crash course in the art and science of magic.

Nicolas Cage is Balthazar Blake; Jay Baruchel is Dave Stutler; Alfred Molina is evil magician, Maxim Horvath; Toby Kebbell is Drake Stone a celebrity illusionist who joins Horvath; and Monica Bellucci is Veronica, sorceress and long lost love of Balthazar Blake. The Sorcerer’s Apprentice was directed by Jon Turteltaub and is due out in cinemas July 16, 2010 in the US and August 13, 2010 in the UK.
