Knight and Day sees Tom Cruise doing ‘funny’ again; Inception suggests that ideas are parasites, then rolls up a city like a rug; Cop Out has Bruce Willis buddied up and on the beat again; and The Karate Kid puts on his fighting shoes.
After the success of Les Grossman in Tropic Thunder, it seems funny, crazy men are the way forward for Tom Cruise’s acting career. The trailer debuting Cruise’s next funny, crazy man, Milner, is online. Knight and Day also stars Cameron Diaz as June, the ditzy blonde who apparently gets dragged along for the ride.
Knight and Day is an action-comedy directed by James Mangold. It will be out in cinemas on July 2, 2010.
Another mind-boggling trailer for Christopher Nolan’s Inception has been released. We’re given a hint as to what might be happening as the world is literally turned upside-down. But who is that screaming at the end - Juno or Edith? And why won’t they wake her up? Find out July 16, 2010 in the US.
The trailer for Kevin Smith’s new flick, Cop Out is out and well, it’s a bit of a cop-out (okay, yes, it’s a feeble play on words but imagine where we would have gone with the film’s original title, A Couple of Dicks). Tracy Morgan (who plays Tracy Jordan in 30 Rock) teams up with king of the baldies, Bruce Willis as a pair of mismatched cops who get in all kinds of palaver, in a flick that looks like it’s been left on a shelf somewhere for twenty years, dusted down and given a generic title. Kevin Smith fans take note: this film was not written by the Smithster but by TV scribes Robb and Mark Cullen.
If you were slightly confused as to why Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith were teaming up to recreate The Karate Kid, the trailer may ease your mind in that respect - who wouldn't want Mr Chan as their martial arts teacher? - but baffle it in others. Still, director Harald Zwart and writer Michael Soccio have included some nods to the original: check out the response to the original's moment when Daniel catches a fly with chopsticks, and a new training routine that may be even more annoying than 'wax on, wax off'.
