This Thursday has brought with it a deluge of promotional bits and pieces. Not only do we have a little sunshine this afternoon, but also a sneak peek for Twilight Saga: Eclipse, trailers for Four Lions, Peacock, The Switch and The Mechanic along with a poster for Scott Pilgrim and a fun game for Saw VI.
First up is the sneak peek for the next slice of eagerly anticipated vampire veneration, Eclipse. Accompanying the release of the New Moon DVD is this special two-minute glimpse into the David Slade-helmed third in the series. New behind the scenes footage is abundant, mixed with mini interviews from some of the cast. You’ll notice lots of new faces, including Bryce Dallas Howard as Victoria and Jodelle Ferland as Bree (still wearing their scary red contact lenses).
Twilight Saga: Eclipse is due in cinemas June 30 in the US and July 9 in the UK.
The independent British feature from Chris Morris, Four Lions, which premiered with much success at this year’s Sundance Film Festival was promoted first with a poster (crow plus bomb) and now with a trailer. The plot concerns a group of wannabe suicide bombers who can’t seem to get the hang of the whole terrorism thing, strapping bombs to crows and choosing ‘the internet’ as a bomb target, for example. The trailer is full of jokes and promises to be a lot of fun though we’re betting it acts as a red rag to the tabloids.
Four Lions stars Riz Ahmed as Omar, Kayvan Novak as Waj, Nigel Lindsay as Barry, Adeel Ahktar as Fessal and Arsher Ali as Hassan. No release date has yet been set.
After 2005’s Breakfast On Pluto Cillian Murphy is back at the cross-dressing again as the trailer for Peacock shows. Murphy plays a quiet Nebraskan bank clerk with a secret dual personality. When a train crashes into his garden, his alter-ego is spotted and his secret is threatened, causing the desperate man to try and fool the local townspeople into believing his personalities are a married couple.
Peacock also stars Ellen Page, Bill Pullman, Susan Sarandon and Josh Lucas. It’s heading – somewhat unsurprisingly despite the solid cast – straight to DVD on April 20. Is that a sign of poor quality or just of non-commercial subject matter? We’ll find out then.
Previously known as The Baster (but renamed after the direct reference to artificial insemination via turkey baster was considered too risqué and maybe too gross?) we have a trailer for Jason Bateman-starring comedy The Switch. The film follows Bateman’s Wally as his best friend Kassie (Jennifer Aniston) opts for artificial insemination. While drunk, Wally secretly replaces her preferred sperm sample with his own. Seven years later, Kassie and her son Sebastian return to New York where it becomes clear that Wally and Sebastian are very similar.
The Switch is due for release August 20 in the US; no UK release date has been set.
Jason Statham and Ben Foster star in our next trailer today, a remake of the 1972 Charles Bronson film, The Mechanic. Statham is an assassin who takes on an apprentice (Foster). It becomes clear quite quickly that the hitman business might not function as a good apprentice programme but there are enough action and explosions to keep any action junkie happy.
Directed by Simon West (Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, When a Stranger Calls), The Mechanic is due out 15 December in the US.
Next up is the official (ie, not the photo that’s been circling around) Scott Pilgrim vs The World poster, where you can see the top of Scott’s head for the first time, and he’s rocking out on a bass guitar. Based on a comic book by Bryan Lee O’Malley, Scott Pilgrim must defeat his new girlfriend’s seven evil ex-boyfriends to win her heart. An epic of epic epicness indeed.
Also starring Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Kieran Culkin, Chris Evans, Anna Kendrick, Brandon Routh, Alison Pill, Jason Schwartzman, Ellen Wong, Satya Bhabha and Mark Webber, Scott Pilgrim vs The World is due out August 6 in the UK and August 13 in the US.

Finally, we have a gruesome version of Where’s Wally for the sixth Saw movie, Where’s Billy. Ten points for everyone who spots him within thirty seconds and an extra point for every character you can spot that has appeared in any of the Saw movies. What was your total?
Saw VI is available to buy on DVD now.

Considering he's a stoney-broke jobless slacker, Scott Pilgrim sure has one heck of a gorgeously shiny Rickenbacker bass.
Scott Pilgrim also looks nothing like Scott Pilgrim. Far be it from me to diss an ex-Arrested Development alum but Michael Cera seems like an odd casting choice here.
