Un Certain Regard and Directors' Fortnight prizewinners announced

The Cannes Film Festival 2010 is drawing to a close. But before we have to pack up and go home, there is the small matter of the prizes to be settled. The main competition winners will be announced tonight but the prizes in other categories have now been awarded.

Un Certain Regard - this category (which translates as A Certain Outlook) was instituted in 1978 by Gilles Jacob, to showcase original and different filmmaking. 

Main prize: Ha Ha Ha, by South Korean director Hong Sang-soo.

Hahaha still.

Jury Prize: Octubre, by Peruvian brothers Daniel and Diego Vega.

The best acting prize went to Eva Bianco, Victoria Raposo and Adela Sanchez who starred in the Argentinian film Los Labios, by Ivan Fund and Santiago Loza.

Directors' Fortnight (Quinzaine des Réalisateurs) - this is an independent selection that runs in parallel to the Cannes Film Festival. It was introduced in 1969. 

The Art Cinema Award: Fabienne Berthaud’s Lily, Sometimes (Pieds nus sur les limaces) starring Diane Kruger and Ludivigne Sagnier.

Prix SACD (for a French-language film): Illegal by Olivier Masset-Depasse.

Europa Cinemas Label: Le Quattro Volte by Michaelangelo Frammartino.

Prix SFR (short): Cautare by Ionut Piturescu and Mary Last Seen by Sean Durkin

Cinéfondation: the short film category

1st prize: Taulukauppiaat (The Painting Sellers), directed by Juhn Kuosmanen

2nd prize: Coucou-les-Nauges (Anywhere Out of the World), directed by Vincent Cardona

3rd place tie: Hinkerort Zorasune (The Fifth Column), directed by Vatche Boulghourjian.
