As vampires have been out in force the past year or so it’s easy to disregard another film purely on the basis that it features the fanged ones. But what say you to a vampire comedy trailer, the views from inside the coffin of an uncool vampire – plus growing whispers about the third instalment of that teen vampire sensation known as Twilight?
First up is the trailer for Suck, the Canadian independent rock comedy that follows “a rock ‘n’ roll band that will do anything to become famous.” Written, directed and starring Rob Stefaniuk, Suck made its debut at 2009 Toronto International Film Festival. Early reviews been very positive.
The Winners are a bar band going nowhere. Forever arguing, they’re broke and the poor excuse they have for a tour is collapsing around them. Not even their manager, Jeff, will have anything to do with them. That is until bass player Jennifer gets picked up by a rather scary goth type who just so happens to be a vampire, and transforms Jennifer into one of them. This isn’t a moral dilemma and the band don’t hesitate in joining the ranks of the undead when they realise that her newly-acquired vampire gifts are getting them more attention than ever. But as the body count rises and their tolerance for sunlight diminishes, band leader Joey is faced with a decision: give up what he’s dreamt of for years or do the right thing.
Suck also stars Malcolm McDowell, Jessica Paré, Dave Foley, Danny Smith, Henry Rollins, Iggy Pop, Alice Cooper and Moby.
From cool rock vampires to an uncool schizophrenic one. Chloë Moretz spoke to Movieline about her role as Abby in Overture Films’ vampire remake Let Me In (remade from the very popular Swedish 2008 film, Let the Right One In, or Låt den rätte komma in – much to the annoyance of everyone at Indie HQ, but we don’t hold that against our favourite Hit-Girl). Moretz says, “The character of Abby…I mean, usually a lot of movies glamorise being a vampire. It’s pretty, it’s cool, you look awesome! The way we did it was that it’s not cool to be a vampire…It’s a burden that she has to carry with her, not this fun, cool, interesting thing. It’s scary, deep, and dark, this devil inside of her. The vampire is different than Abby. It’s like her alternate personality, and when it takes her over, she has no control.”
Let Me In was adapted and directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) and also stars Richard Jenkins and Kodi Smit-McPhee. You can check it out in the US on October 1, UK release dates are yet to be confirmed.

Last – but certainly not least – we move on to those sparkling vampires. The David Slade-directed third piece of the Twilight Saga pie, Eclipse has its first trailer debuting Thursday March 11 at 6am PST/9am EST (that’ll be about 2pm for us). But if that’s too long for you to wait, Summit Entertainment is releasing a 10-second teaser of that very same trailer today. So, we’ll have a trailer of a trailer 6am PST/9am EST. (The full trailer can also be seen in front of Remember Me, which also stars Robert Pattinson.) If nothing else, it will be interesting to see what Slade has done with it.
Bella finds herself, once again, surrounded by danger as Seattle is plagued by a string of mysterious deaths, and the malicious vampire Victoria continues her quest for revenge. Not only that but she is forced to choose between Edward and Jacob, knowing her decision might cause a vampire/werewolf clan bloodbath.
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse sees Kristen Stewart returning as Bella Swan, Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen and Taylor Lautner as Jacob Black. It hits US cinemas on June 30 and UK cinemas on July 9.

A ten second teaser for a trailer? Truly, Summit are spoiling us.
I feel suitably teased by Twilight. Was hoping for a bit more vampire combat and lot less smooching since Slade is at the helm. I wonder what reasons they can find in this one for Lautner to remove his shirt? Some suggestions:
1. It's itchy.
2. He's flushed and menopausal.
3. He didn't spend 18,000 hours in the gym to keep it on.
