Detective Zhong Lang comes to the rescue of wealthy merchant Qian Shouchang, after he is shot at on the street. Pleased with his efforts, Qian enlists Zhong to act as security for his fiftieth birthday party. But as the night progresses, Zhong discovers there's much more to Qian than meets the eye.
